S2CENE Attends The Experiences of Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation in Favour of Young People in Second Chance Schools Event
On the 27th of October of 2023, Associação para a Educação de Segunda Oportunidade (AE20), one of the Strengthening Second Chance Networks in Europe (S2CENE) project partners, had the opportunity to share its experience and knowledge in the field of Second Chance Education in Cooperation as a generator of opportunities, a round table of the event Experiences of Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation in Favour of Young People in Second Chance Schools.
The event began at 11 am (GMT+2 hours) on 27th October, with a Institutional Welcome of all participants, led by Marta Cid, Vice-President of Fundació Gentis, a service provider organisation, specialised in improving employability through socio-emotional development, training sessions, mentoring experiences and socio-occupational guidance, aimed at groups in social vulnerability situations, Michael Haundry, from Association Européenne des Villes des Ecoles de la Deuxieme Chance (E2C EUROPE), and Paco Estelles, President of Plataforma Sociales Salesianas, a network built by the social organisation of the Salesians, in Spain, which promote the inclusion of children, adolescents, young people and families at risk and other vulnerable groups through intervention work and synergies for social change.
The welcoming moment was followed by a Youth Declaration.
The round table Cooperation as a generator of opportunities started at 11:45 am, and was attended by Marta Cid (Fundació Gentis), Luís Mesquita, Director of Associação para a Educação de Segunda Oportunidade (AE20), the institution in charge of coordinating the S2CENE project, Chloé Martin, from MedNC, Institut Européen de Cooperation et de Developpement (IECD), an international solidarity organisation with recognised expertise in education, vocational training and professional integration, as well as entrepreneurship, and Guillaume Thureau, assessor of the Asociación Española de Escuelas de Segunda Oportunidad (E20 Espanã). The round table was moderated by the E2O España’s current Director, Nataly Lara Miljànovich.
The second part of the event was dedicated to discussing Good Practices of Euro-Mediterranean Collaboration through the intervention of Chloé Martin (MedNC, IECD) and Marta Castillo, Director of Studies and Social Innovation of Fundación Tomillo.
From 1:20 pm. to 2 pm, Barcelona time, Céline Maillot from Association Européenne des Villes des Ecoles de la Deuxieme Chance (E2C) presented a speech entitled Empowering our youngsters through mobilities.
The event, integrated in the Annual Events promoted by E2C Europe, was held in Barcelona, Spain, and provided interesting discussion moments on second chance education, emphasising the pertinence of establishing synergies between second chance schools, as well as between SCS and community institutions, as a pillar for guaranteeing the proficiency of second chance schools’ intervention.
